Here at KiActiv®, we are constantly looking towards the latest research to innovate and progress our programmes. As a result, we have collated some of the most interesting, cutting-edge research pieces published in January 2021, with the hope that this will afford you a wider insight into everything from your general wellbeing and physical health, to your cognitive and mental health too.

  • Activity Guidelines: A piece in The Conversation highlights how most people over-estimate their daily activity levels, and provide an insight into how to truly calculate how much you do. You can read more here.
  • Cognitive Health: An article from Science Alert demonstrates the importance of movement to enhance your concentration and improve your daily cognitive functioning. More information can be found here.
  • Covid-19: A novel study by Fearnback and colleagues identifies prominent barriers to activity participation under the latest lockdown measures and considers how to overcome these from a public health perspective. The full study can be accessed here.
  • Heart Health: Building on previous research, Ramakrishnan and colleagues recently confirmed the strong association between engaging in physical activity and the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases. Full access to the article can be found here.
  • General Health: A large meta-analysis established that importance of limiting your sedentary time to reduce your risk of all-cause mortality, encouraging people to undertake some moderate-to-vigorous activity each day. Further information can be found here.
